Frequently asked questions about ordering, delivery and service

Below you will find an overview of the most frequently asked questions. Is your question not listed? Please feel free to contact us. You can reach us on +32 56 90 66 77, via the chat function or by email at info@lattestore.be

1. Measurements

How do I measure for my made-to-measure system?

You can find the measuring instructions at the bottom of each product page, under the “Measuring” tab. Be sure to read the notes as well. If you have any questions, you can always contact us.

Do you also come to measure at home?

We do not offer an at-home measuring service. The measuring instructions are available at the bottom of each product page. If you are unsure, you can always contact us.

For example, you can send us a photo of your window. We can add indications to the image and give you clear measuring instructions.

What if I made a mistake while measuring?

Unfortunately, made-to-measure systems cannot be exchanged or returned, as they are produced specifically for your order. You can still contact our customer service team. We will look together at what solution may be possible.

2. Samples

How much does it cost to have samples sent to me?

Samples are sent to you completely free of charge. We always recommend ordering samples first, so you can be confident about your choice of colour, material and finish.

How many samples can I order?

We can send a maximum of 15 samples per request. If you are not fully convinced afterwards, you can always place another sample request.

How long does it take to receive the samples?

All samples are sent by post within 24 hours on working days.

Do I need to be at home to receive the samples?

The samples fit through a standard letterbox, so you do not need to be at home to receive them.

3. Ordering

Can I still change my order?

After placing your order, you still have one day to request changes. After this period, changes are generally no longer possible.

I have not received an order confirmation e-mail.

First check whether our e-mail has ended up in your junk or spam folder. If you still have not received anything, contact our customer service team. We will check whether your order has been received correctly.

You can reach our customer service team on +32 56 90 66 77.

4. Products: general

What is included with my system?

We provide the necessary components for installing your systems. Mounting brackets and a Child Safety bracket are included with every system. Screws and plugs are not included, as we do not know which material you will be drilling into. For Venetian blinds, you can add a screw and bit set as an option.

Are screws and plugs included with the systems?

Screws and plugs are not included as standard, because the right fixing material depends on the surface you are drilling into. For Venetian blinds, you can add them as an option when ordering.

Which system offers the best insulation?

In general, the more natural and thicker the material, the better it insulates. Wood and bamboo, for example, provide better insulation than aluminium or PVC. Blackout fabrics also insulate better than translucent fabrics. Colour also plays a role: white reflects sunlight, while black absorbs more heat and light.

Which systems are suitable for a bathroom?

Most systems are suitable for a bathroom, provided the room is well ventilated. Polyester fabrics, such as roller blinds, Roman blinds and vertical blinds, as well as aluminium and PVC, are better suited to humid environments.

PVC should not be installed in rooms that become too warm, as this may cause the slats to warp. Wood and bamboo can also be used, but the slats should not get wet. A few splashes are usually not a problem, but if moisture penetrates the core of the slat and then dries again, the slat may twist.

We also advise against placing slats directly next to a heat source or water source.

5. Roller blinds: fabric transparency

I am looking for a fabric you can still see through, or one you cannot see through. How can I tell?

Roller blind fabrics have specific values that indicate the properties of the fabric. You can find these under “Colour specifications” on the product page.

These are RAT values: reflection, absorption and transmission.

  • The higher the light reflection, the more sunlight is reflected and the better the heat protection.
  • The higher the absorption, the more light and heat the fabric absorbs. This heat tends to remain between the window and the fabric.
  • The higher the light transmission, the more light and heat the fabric lets through and the more transparent it is. At 0% light transmission, the fabric is blackout.
6. Vertical Blinds

I am looking for a fabric you can still see through, or one you cannot see through. How can I tell?

Vertical blind fabrics have specific values that indicate the properties of the fabric. You can find these under “Colour specifications” on the product page.

These are RAT values: reflection, absorption and transmission.

  • The higher the light reflection, the more sunlight is reflected and the better the heat protection.
  • The higher the absorption, the more light and heat the fabric absorbs. This heat tends to remain between the window and the slats.
  • The higher the light transmission, the more light and heat the fabric lets through and the more transparent it is. At 0% light transmission, the fabric is blackout.

Do you also sell vertical PVC slats?

We do not sell vertical PVC slats. They are noisier during operation, can be damaged more easily and are harder to replace. Our vertical textile slats are more durable, offer better insulation and are available in a wide range of fabrics.

What is included with vertical blinds?

In addition to the rail and the slats themselves, you receive mounting brackets, a Child Safety bracket, bottom weights and a connecting chain for the bottom. Screws are not included, as we do not know which material you will be fixing the vertical blinds into.

7. Products: horizontal venitian blinds

What is the difference between wood and bamboo?

Wooden slats are made from basswood and finished with a varnished, smooth surface. Bamboo slats are dyed in a colour bath and have a visible natural grain structure.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each material?

PVC: budget-friendly solution, suitable for bathrooms, but not ideal for large surfaces (> 4 m²).

Wood: refined finish and better insulation.

Bamboo: natural look thanks to the visible grain structure and better insulation.

Aluminium: sleek finish, suitable for bathrooms, suitable for large surfaces (> 10 m²) and a compact stack height.

Which slat width should I choose?

Narrow slats: more privacy, less light and more slats.

Wide slats: more light, less privacy and fewer slats.

Use this checklist to choose the slat width that suits your window best:

  • Do you want a lot of light or less light?
  • Is privacy important?
  • Do you want to keep a panoramic view?
  • Do you prefer many slats or fewer slats?
  • Will you install the blind on the window frame, inside the recess or outside the recess?
  • How much installation space do you have?

Should I choose ladder tapes or ladder cords?

This depends entirely on your personal preference. The operation and strength of the system remain the same. Ladder tapes are more visible and are available in different colours and widths.

I ordered ladder tapes, but I do not like them. Can I still change them?

If you want to change them, we need to collect the system and replace the ladder tapes with ladder cords. Contact our customer service team for the price of this service.

When should I choose side guidance?

If you want to install a Venetian blind on a door or tilt-and-turn window, side guidance is a good option. It helps reduce movement when opening and closing the door or window.

The side guiding cable is fixed at the bottom with brackets. You can choose an L-bracket for face fixing, for example on the window frame, or a flat bracket for recess fixing, for example between the glazing beads.

Which brackets should I choose?

This depends on how you want to install the system. Universal brackets can be mounted to either the ceiling or the wall.

If you are certain that you want to mount the system to the ceiling, ceiling brackets are the best choice.

Extension brackets allow the system to sit slightly further away from the wall, for example 12 or 19 mm. This can be useful if the blind is installed in front of a skirting board, wall panelling or for 65 mm slats.

What is a valance?

A valance is a decorative cover strip in wood, bamboo or PVC, depending on the system. It is attached to the aluminium headrail with magnets. For recess installation, a simple straight valance without side returns is usually best. For face fixing, a valance with side returns is usually recommended. The valance is always slightly longer than the system itself.

Can I shorten or lengthen the lifting and tilting cords of Venetian blinds?

You can shorten them, but make sure the slats are always fully lowered when you do this.

If the cords are too long when the blind is raised, you can secure them to the supplied Child Safety bracket.

If in doubt, contact our customer service team. You cannot lengthen the cords yourself.

Can I order a separate valance afterwards?

Yes, this is possible. Please contact our customer service team for more information.

8. Payments

Can I pay afterwards or in instalments?

Because all systems are made to measure, we require full payment in advance.

I cannot complete my payment. What should I do?

Try another payment method or pay by bank transfer. If your order is urgent, please contact our customer service team.

Do you also offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Send an e-mail to our customer service team with the desired amount, the name of the person giving the gift and the name of the recipient.

We will then add the gift voucher to your shopping cart, or you can pay for it by bank transfer.

9. Delivery

What is the delivery time for my order?

Once we have received payment for your order, we will send you an e-mail confirming that production will start. At that moment, you still have one final opportunity to request changes if needed.

As soon as your order is ready, you will receive an e-mail confirming dispatch. The total lead time is approximately 3 weeks: 10 to 12 or 12 to 14 working days for production, depending on the product, plus 2 to 4 working days for delivery.

If a colour is out of stock, production starts once that colour is available again. If this extends the lead time, we will inform you.

You can always ask our customer service team about the status of your order by phone on +32 56 90 66 77 or by e-mail at info@lattestore.be.

How will my order be delivered?

Orders are delivered during office hours by Ontime, UPS or Bpost. Orders must be signed for upon receipt.

Once your order has left our warehouse and has been handed over to the carrier, you will receive a shipping confirmation by e-mail. This e-mail contains the Track & Trace number so you can follow your delivery online.

Carriers generally deliver between 8:00 and 19:00 and make up to 3 delivery attempts. After each attempt, we will contact you to schedule a new delivery moment.

Orders delivered by Bpost are taken to a collection point if you are absent.

If there are specific delivery instructions we should take into account, you can mention them in the comments field of your order.

What if I am not at home during delivery?

When your systems are ready for dispatch, you will receive an e-mail from us with an estimated delivery date. You will also receive an e-mail from the carrier with more information about the delivery.

If this date does not suit you, you can contact us to suggest another date.

A few options for arranging delivery:

  • You can indicate a preferred time, such as morning or afternoon.
  • You can request a specific day.
  • You can have the package delivered to an alternative address, such as a neighbour or your workplace.
  • You can ask the carrier to notify you about one hour before delivery.
  • You can request delivery to a sheltered location. We do not generally recommend this, as you cannot immediately check the package for damage.

What should I do if there is damage upon delivery?

If you notice damage to the packaging upon delivery, open the packaging on the spot and check whether the products are damaged.

If the systems are damaged, a damage report must be made together with the driver.

Please also take several photos of the damaged products and send them to info@lattestore.be, mentioning your order number.

How much will be charged for delivery?

Transport costs are calculated automatically when you place your order. The amount depends partly on the size of your order.

For a standard order, transport costs are approximately €19, regardless of the number of systems and the delivery address selected.

From a certain order value, the transport cost is reduced or waived.

Why do you not always offer free delivery?

Our systems are made to measure and cannot be shipped like standard parcels. They are often long, fragile or irregular in size. That is why we work with a transport partner specialised in long-length transport and careful home delivery. This type of transport costs more than regular parcel shipping. Below a certain order value, we therefore charge part of these transport costs.

10. Installation and Child Safety

How do I install my system?

You can find the installation instructions on our installation page, on each product page under the “Installation” tab and via the link you receive in the delivery e-mail.

Is a manual included with the systems?

In the e-mail you receive about the delivery, you will find a link to the online manual. We do not include a printed manual in the package.

I want to install my system on the window frame without drilling. Do you have a solution?

For most systems, clamp brackets are available. These allow you to attach the system directly to the window frame without drilling. Contact our customer service team for more information.

Do you also install the systems?

We do not offer an installation service. All our systems are designed to be easy to install and come with a clear online manual. If you have questions or doubts, our customer service team will be happy to help.

What is Child Safety?

Child Safety refers to the safety components that help ensure operating cords or chains are used safely, especially in rooms where children may be present.

The operating mechanism must always be placed at least 1500 mm from the floor.

The operating cord or chain must also remain under tension using the supplied Child Safety brackets.

Who is responsible for Child Safety?

This is a shared responsibility.

The manufacturer ensures that all components of the internal sun shading product are supplied in accordance with the applicable standards. The manufacturer also provides the required information and warnings on the product, in the installation instructions and in the user manual for the end user.

Lattestore and the installer are responsible for informing the end user about possible risks for children, based on the information supplied by the manufacturer.

11. Maintenance

How do I maintain my roller blinds?

You can clean roller blinds with a soft brush or a slightly damp cloth. Always check the colour specifications first to see whether the fabric is moisture-resistant before cleaning it with water or a damp cloth.

Can I wash vertical blinds?

Some fabrics for vertical blinds are washable. Always check the colour specifications of the selected fabric first. Washable fabrics are marked with a sponge icon.

You can carefully clean vertical blinds with a soft brush, a slightly damp cloth or a damp sponge. We recommend doing this gently, as frequent washing may affect the protective coating of the slats.

For more thorough cleaning, first remove the connecting chain and carefully unhook the slats from the headrail. Place the loose slats on a towel and clean them with a damp sponge or soft brush.

For stubborn stains, you can place the rolled-up slats in lukewarm water with a mild detergent for around 10 minutes. First remove the bottom weights from the slats.

The slats may be hung back on the rail while still damp to dry. Avoid drying them near a heat source, such as a radiator, and never iron them.

How can I clean my Venetian blinds?

Venetian blind slats can be cleaned with a feather duster or, where suitable, with a slightly damp cloth.

Please note: bamboo slats must not be cleaned with a damp cloth or microfibre cloth. Water can damage the slats, and microfibre cloths may catch on the structure of the bamboo.

12. Damage, defects and warranty

What should I do if my system is damaged?

Although we take great care with our products and shipping, it can exceptionally happen that a system is delivered damaged.

Inform our customer service team within 48 hours after receipt of your order. Describe the damage clearly and add photos of both the packaging and the damaged goods.

If you report the damage within this period, we will look for a suitable solution together with you.

If you report the damage after this period, we unfortunately can no longer be held responsible.

What should I do if my system has a defect?

If you notice a defect in your system, contact our customer service team.

Please send a few photos or a short video, so we can clearly see what the issue is.

If a repair in our workshop is needed and the defect falls under warranty, we will arrange free collection of the system from your home.

How long is the warranty on a system?

All our systems come with a 2-year warranty.

13. Operating the systems

How can I prevent the chain of my roller blind from coming apart during use?

The breakaway connector, also called a chain connector, joins the two ends of the ball chain. This safety connector is designed to release when a force of approximately 6 kg is applied to the chain.

To prevent the chain from coming apart while operating the roller blind, always pull the chain above the breakaway connector. This reduces pressure on the connector and allows you to operate the blind smoothly and safely.

My vertical blinds do not rotate, or not all of them rotate. What should I do?

Make sure the hooks or carriers are in the correct position before hanging the vertical slats. Once the slats are attached, they should hang in an open position, not in a closed position.

If the slats do not rotate properly, carefully remove them from the rail, set all hooks back to the same open position and hang the slats again.

If one hook is not positioned correctly, you can carefully unclip it and click it back into the correct position. If in doubt, contact our customer service team.

How do I operate Venetian blinds correctly?

You can tilt Venetian blind slats using the tilting cords, always two cords, or with a tilt wand. The remaining cords are used to raise or lower the blind.

Take all lifting cords together and move them towards the centre to release the brake mechanism. Then raise or lower the blind to the desired height.

Move the cords back to the side to lock the blind in place.

My Venetian blind is stuck and will not lower. What should I do?

Support the stack of slats with one hand and gently push it slightly upwards. Then release the brake mechanism by moving the lifting cords towards the centre.

Let the blind lower slowly. If in doubt, contact our customer service team.
